Our History

When Salvador Guzman came to the United States from Degollada Jalisco Mexico with his family, he came with the hope and the American Dream in his heart. Two decades later, Guzman and his family own and operate one the most well known and highly successful groups of Mexican Restaurants in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama, Guzman's La Hacienda Restaurants.

It all started in the kitchen over 60 years ago.  Mama Mercedes brought with her recipes that have been in the family for generations, paying strict attention to freshness and quality.

It was Salvador, though, who had the idea to involve the whole family and create a truly special restaurant. The entire Guzman family pitched in and helped at the first La Hacienda when it opened in Columbia TN in 1991. Even Grandpa Raul offered a helping hand by washing dishes.

Today, the tradition that has made their authentic Mexican cooking legendary continues to be served at the family restaurants. It is still a family business, family owned, family operated and family loved. Each restaurant is under the personal care of a family member, guaranteeing the reputation the family has earned for treating their customers "like part of the family".

Helping to complete the family's recipe for success is the personal atmosphere and warm welcome from the familiar employees at each of the restaurants. Many employees such as food servers, managers and kitchen help, have been working for the family for decades. Thank you - long time employees, for your loyalty and commitment to the Guzman family! You're very valuable and important to La Hacienda. Equally important are you, the customers, who have been coming to La Hacienda since it opened. Some of you have met here, fallen in love, married and are now bringing your children. Thank you for your loyalty.
